The article says Bachelet "will be just the second woman elected to the head of a South American state". Who was the other one? If the author means Isabel Martinez de Perón, she wans't elected, but became president due to Juan Peron's death. If we count people who were appointed, we also have to include Rosalía Arteaga of Ecuador and Lydia Gueiler of Bolivia. And I think we should use other sources, maybe newspaper sources like El Mercurio or the Ministry of the Interior's elections website (www.elecciones.gov.cl).

"...the second in South America after Guyana's Janet Jagan and the third in Latin America after Nicaragua's Violeta Chamorro and Panama's Mireya Moscoso." - wikipedia article on Bachelet. - 67.165.67.6 03:33, 16 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
