Name change
editArticle name-change was a bad edit and made the title non-neutral towards the Israelis who responded to a Palestinian stabbing one of their children. The Associated Press source supports this issue. 87.70.38.15 21:51, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
- Change: "Israeli 9 year old stabbed by Palestinian; attack sets off rampage in West Bank" moved to "West Bank arsonist stabs child, causing Israeli settlers to attack Palestinian village". I think a mix of the two would be appropriate. —Calebrw (talk) 22:28, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
- Arsonist suggest he has done this before. The title is too long and the title is not supposed to tell the story. To make it simple and have the reader enticed to read the article: "Child stabbed in attack in West Bank". DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 22:44, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
- The news story is about the arson, and the retaliation; both "major" attacks that targeted large populations. It is not about whichever of the 7 "lightly injured" victims was cutest. "Israeli 9 year old stabbed by Palestinian" is laughably POV, and completely sensationalises the story to the point we might as well stop referring to ourselves as Wikinews and simply become Wikipropaganda. The current title (Child stabbed in West Bank arson, Israeli settlers retaliate) is "acceptable". Sherurcij 23:20, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
- The "laughably POV" title was chosen based on the main source - i.e. Associated Press. I wonder why it's POV to note that a Palestinian did the stabbing, but it's ok to use Israel for retaliation. There was nothing wrong with the initial title and the "violent Israelis" POV title change was - pardon my language - bullshit. 87.70.38.15 18:50, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
- Btw, I don't understand why this "NPOV" edit removed the notes about the stabbing and diminishes them with "causing only light injury" while focusing greatly on only the Israeli side of the "rampage" (i.e. no mention of the stone throwers from the village). Where do I report biased editors here ? 87.70.38.15 18:56, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
