Article development edit

Obviously what I've written so far is fairly brief, but there are plenty of sources on Google News about the preparations for Earth Hour, and soon enough there should be a few on the aftermath. If anyone is going to be in an area that's switching off, it would be great if you could contribute some photos, and maybe some OR too. I'll put a bit more into the article after the event, too, but won't have any photos because I'm not going to be somewhere known for a lot of lights in the first place. Just a little footnote, if anyone finds "Helping the environment proves a big turn-off" to be too corny or somehow POV for the title, don't hesitate to move it to something less contentious. Chris Mann (Say hi!|Stalk me!) 08:39, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps we could make it "Google goes 'lights out' for Earth Hour 2008" or something of the sort, with a Google homepage screencapture? Thunderhead 09:48, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Is a fair use image really necessary. I am convinced that we can get free images. I think this site has too much of a focus on fair use. --Anonymous101 (talk · contribs) 12:38, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
I agree with Anon101 - there are still plenty of locations left for people to take a couple of "lights on, lights off" photos. We don't need a fair use image and as such I don't see how we could rationale it (I also think the main significance is the Hour itself, not Google's contribution to it). Actually, I heard that there might be some effort to get satellite images of participating locations. If they're NASA satellites, there are some nice PD image opportunities. I know someone who's switching their lights off for the hour- and they've agreed for me to film the light going off at 8PM. I plan on a 2/3 second ogg film showing the lights going off. --Anonymous101 (talk · contribs) 15:18, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
I 'm contacting them now to see if they can give me a quote --Anonymous101 (talk · contribs) 15:25, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
