why is this article on the main page? this can hardly be considered world news. - mylesmalley

Wikinews at this time makes no distinction between local news and world news. The general thought is that at some point the volume of published articles will reach a level where it will be beneficial to not display local stories on the main page. If Wikinews made the distinction for local and world news it would have been local, but it doesnt.
