December 2005 edit

This article needs some background information, specific background information, for users to follow it. I'm lost on the whole issue here, and would rather not have to resort to another source to read up on the event. Please include the requests above into future edits on this article. --MrMiscellanious (talk) (contribs) 21:14, 11 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

I Read in the UK Guardian that as a consequence Wikipedia was to require contiributors to register. A comment seems appropriate. PJTraill 00:06, 12 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

this story is laughable but intresting to see how the media is portraying wikipedia. more information would have been handy in this article but i dont have the time --Whywhywhy 01:24, 12 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Here is a blog entry with links to various sources. Nyarlathotep 04:50, 12 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

You guys are missing the point edit

The whole point of the issue is that wikipedia is not a reliable source of information. Asking wikipedia to expand on this story is pretty ironic. Get a real news source.

Funny.

Edit edit

{{editprotected}} "Daniel Brandt" does not have an article on Wikipedia. The current link target is a German rock drummer. Kind of ironic considering the topic of the article. Heavy Water (talk) 23:00, 25 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Done, but let me ask @Heavy Water:, should this be a source instead of an inline link? It's still a live link after all these years. --SVTCobra 23:43, 25 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
It sounds like a good idea, but is that consistent with WN:ARCHIVE? Heavy Water (talk) 23:46, 25 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Not sure. We regularly fix links, but moving it to a source would be unusual. I don't think this exact scenario was envisaged. SVTCobra 23:54, 25 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
After an article has been protected, it should no longer be edited on elements of content, sources, or other substance. I guess not. Heavy Water (talk) 23:57, 25 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
