Merged some stuff and gave it a clean

I merged a little from the other toilet article into this one and removed some content that was unsourced or a little rough around the edges.

The organisation say toilet seats are no longer able to handle our weight.

That isnt strictly true.

It's expected the new standard will cater for a 150 kg person – of which there are more and more every day. Data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics show

Nothing shows there are more and more "large" people everyday, the number of overweight/obese people has risen but I dont think this was suitable.

I never met someone breaking toilet under her (his) weight ... Is this serious ? Anyway more a food problem (too much salt, dope usage with beef,...) Jacques Divol 10:07, 7 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
One of the articles on news.com.au had a talk with a toilet salesperson who said she had heard of it happening, that's alarming - Cartman02au (Talk)(AU Portal) 21:00, 7 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Are the units correct?

edit

The ideal weight for someone who is 1.75 m tall is ~68 kg - a fare bit more than the 45 kg that the toilet seat can take. Are the units correct?

So it seems

edit

The sources indicate that the toilets will have to be strengthened to hold 150 kg (up from 45 kg)... [http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200603/s1585415.htm Hefty Aussies flush out dunny review - ABC Online] "General manager of standards development Colin Blair says toilets are currently required to meet a rigidity test of 45 kilograms - which accommodates most people's weight in a seated position."

so some of the weight is supported by the legs? 217.132.27.201 18:16, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
