Sounds a lot like the UK's NHS Direct service. (more here) --H2g2bob 01:34, 29 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

How well does it work in the UK? - Cartman02au (Talk)(AU Portal) 06:17, 29 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
It seems to work quite well, but only as a suppliment to going to the doctors (GP). Obviously, the service doesn't prescribe drugs so for "proper" illness people will see the doctor anyway. Plus going to the doctors they can get bennifits or a sick note for work.
But people do use it if they find it difficult to get to the doctors, or when people go "I don't know if this is dangerous" or "I don't want to bother the GP with this". In this sense it is a good service, especially for new mothers and the elderly.

Great article! Could the title be made a bit more descriptive and possibly include a verb? Perhaps "Australian government hopes to establish triage by phone" or something similar? --Chiacomo (talk) 06:09, 29 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
