Talk:Arizona applies ban on autodialers to mobile phone spam

Looks good except the title, which is too long. A title should be short, even if that means a simplification of the story. Readers can go to the article proper for full details, there is no need for them in the title, which should only cointain the "gist" of the story. I suggest:

"Arizona bans autodialer use for text messages"

I agree short titles are good. The problem is the court is not baning the use of an autodialer for text messages, but applying a law that bans the use of an autodialer to ban text message spam --Cspurrier 17:23, 23 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
My proposed title doesn't even mention the court. As I said before, a degree of simplification is permitted for brevity in a title. The main article explains it in full detail. The title is only for people to decide if they want to read the article or not. They aren't going to decide differently based on the short or long titles. However, if all the titles are as long as this one, they are likely to give up and go elsewhere for their news. StuRat 17:48, 23 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
The new title is better, although it did have a typo, "moblie", which I fixed. StuRat 02:05, 24 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
