Talk:Alaskan Governor and Republican U.S. vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin's email account hacked

Anonymous edit

Although media reports say the group Anonymous was responsible, I know for a fact that the individuals who leaked the information to Wikileaks, was someone(s) claiming to be part of Anonymous. That said, I do not believe it is NPOV or factual to say that the entire group was responsible. Someone sending in leaks can claim to be Elvis Presley, but that does not mean its actually them. IMO, until evidence of some kind says otherwise, I don't believe we can say the group Anonymous is responsible. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 17:50, 19 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Also, the nature of Anonymous means that even if a member or members did it in the name of the 'common good', then we can't say the whole group is responsible unless - to use a wiki buzzword - consensus can be demonstrated. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 17:56, 19 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
'Anonymous' is a strange thing to try and pin down for reporting purposes. If I logged out to make this comment and let sinebot flag its origin I would be 'Anonymous from Belgium'.
The people who've gone after Scientology have no membership roll or criteria, just general collaboration through the 4chan and other websites, to some extent you could say 'Anonymous' is just a w:meme. --Brian McNeil / talk 08:53, 20 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

What /?/tard put up an image that will obviously end up zapped? I have no sympathy. --Brian McNeil / talk 13:22, 20 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Review edit

no such "group" as Anonymous edit

From the Wikipedia article: "The name "Anonymous" itself is inspired by the perceived anonymity under which users post images and comments on the Internet, as well as from the default name "Anonymous" assigned by various internet forums to visitors who leave comments without self-identifying. It is generally considered as a blanket term – not tied to any monolithic group – for the vox populi or members of the Internet culture."

Ignorant statements like "A hacker thought to be loosely associated with internet group Anonymous" are to be expected from the mainstream media, but there is no excuse for wikinews, you all should know this shit. 76.178.154.181 22:50, 20 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

One month discrepancy between date of article publication and date listed in template edit

While the 2008 US Presidential Election template lists October 20 as the date for this article, it was actually published on September 20. The seeming error also appears in Portal:Politics and conflicts. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Emw2012 (talkcontribs) 23:51, 31 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
