Talk:Afghanistan holds first democratic general elections

Latest comment: 18 years ago by Aphaia

This article appears to have had some initial unintentional bias towards saying the elections were a success, primarily because an election official was quoted, and such a person would be expected to call it a success in any case. For example, the quote said there was a ""high level of political awareness and participation", when there was only 50% turnout. I tried to balance it out a bit with the actual numbers and a new source. I also added categories and a pic. StuRat 19:11, 20 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

And is it really the first democratic general one? I heard they held an general election in 1969. --Aphaia 19:37, 20 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
Good point. Perhaps the title should be "Afghanistan holds first democratic general elections since 1969". StuRat 21:50, 20 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
Or "after Taliban regime". But "since 1969" seems more impressive. --Aphaia 18:27, 21 September 2005 (UTC)Reply
