This article poses an important question: what do we use for place-names? Although Myanmar is what the de facto government calls the nation, and is the UN-recognized name as well, it is not recognized by many countries--including my own, which is why I used Burma (and Rangoon instead of Yangon) when I wrote this. Any suggestions on adopting a standard? Kurt Weber 01:30, 21 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Wikipedia uses Myanmar. Much as I detest the junta being able to rename the country, Myanmar is the international standard at present, and thus I think we should use that as the name. Ambi 07:27, 21 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Point taken; I'll wait eight hours or so and if there are no other concerns or suggestions as to place-name conventions, I'll change it to Myanmar and publish.Kurt Weber 19:15, 21 Nov 2004 (UTC)
