Student who normally doesn’t like the key of E loves Selena Gomez dance song

Saturday, July 20, 2013

On Friday, the official music video for “Slow Down,” the new dance song by Selena Gomez, premiered on YouTube and VEVO. Jessica Markowitz, a 17-year-old girl who attends League School of Greater Boston, loves this song. She loves most dance songs and party songs, including Flo Rida’s “Club Can’t Handle Me,” Usher’s “DJ Got Us Fallin In Love,” all three Jennifer Lopez songs featuring Pitbull, and Havana Brown’s “We Run The Night.” Songs that use “dance” or “club” in the title or lyrics have a better chance of being songs that Jessica loves, compared to songs that don’t use those words. Songs that mention “break” or any form of it (such as “broke” or “broken”) in proximity to “heart” or “hearts” have a decreased chance of getting Jessica’s approval. For example, she doesn’t like “Break Your Heart” by Taio Cruz.

Jessica rarely likes songs in the key of E. She dislikes Train’s “Hey Soul Sister” and “Drive By,” as well as Karmin’s “Brokenhearted.” However, she absolutely loves “Slow Down.” Had it been a sad breakup song instead of the fun, upbeat dance song about partying all night that it is, the chances that Jessica would have liked it would have been very slim.
