This is a page for organizing worldwide coverage of the 'Anonymous' protests against the Church of Scientology on March 15, 2008. I would like to hear from those who plan to cover other locations and countries (USA, Canada, Europe, etc) also! These are the primary cities of interest for Anonymous.

Under NO circumstances are any Wikinews reporters, or not, to step on the property of ANY Church of Scientology. By doing so, press or not, if unwelcome, they can have you arrested for trespassing.

If you can cover a location - add yourself! We need coverage for anything that is listed as Vacant, as well as many people on every location - 5 sets of pictures is much better than none! So just because the spot has one or more users in it, does not mean you can't still add yourself. The more reporters the better.

There are least numerous protests planned worldwide. Click here to see the entire list and if you are in or near any of these areas, please add your name and relevant information below.

Protests start at 11:00 a.m. (YOUR Local time) on March 15.

Reporters

Photographers:

  • Obtain photographs of the protests
  • Other useful information (Journalist role)

Remember: We need free license images - upload them to Commons!

Videographers:

  • Obtain video reports of the protests
  • Possibly "field reporter" sections (this is <Nickname / Real name> at <location>, for Wikinews Video)

Technical: All videos must be in Ogg Theora. Conversion from MPEG (and pretty much any other format) is possible by using ffmpeg2theora. It will not be possible to add video any later than 24 hours after the event - so quick turnarounds are needed!

Interviewers:

  • Obtain photographs of the protests (optional)
  • Text, audio or video based interviews
  • Other useful information (Journalist role)

Remember: We need free license images - upload them to Commons!

You are welcome to report on the events even if you do not have a working camera although some other proof of your claims will be required.

I am corrected by the above link - they're protesting at the Brussels stock exchange! Better known as the Beurse (sp?). This is in the heart of the city and will get them a far higher visibility than the previous protest. Unfortunately, I'm now in a 50/50% can/can't go situation due to other commitments on the 15th. I may be able to turn up for the first hour then have to head home to deal with family things. --Brian McNeil / talk 17:16, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

  • Editor at Large - will cover protests in Ottawa [1], I'm finally back in the city. D80 + telephoto lens, should be able to get some good shots.

  • Meekel - Will have my camera with me this time too.

  • Adambro - (talk) - Nothing in the calendar to stop my attending as of yet.
  • Skenmy + assistant - we wil be covering two events on that day (Anon protests at both locations and an Anti-War march)

Manchester

  • Anonymous101 - My camera has just broken so I may not be able to photograph the event - but I'll still report on the event and interview protesters. (Or the repair might be complete by Saturday). Update - My camera is not repaired. No photographs by me :(
