Frlendly Style issues

Quaker portal people: we'd better get this one thrashed out quickly so we're writing (or editing) to the same style. Quakers in Britain capitalise everything, Lyellin has gone with meetinghouse tho i would call it a Meeting house. Please make suggestions and we can create a mini-style sheet, we still of course follow the main style sheet: Quaker, Friend a meeting (lower case), unless Westminster Meeting or other specific name clerk of a meeting Er, that's all I can think of now... ahhh... this'll be fun. I went with meeting, with the intention of using meeting when I'm not referring to a specific meeting, and Meeting when I am referring to a specific meeting. That said, I'm not sure if that is actually correct ;) Lyellin 14:04, 22 July 2005 (UTC)

I don't think there is a correct, I think meeting is better for news though ClareWhite 14:25, 22 July 2005 (UTC)

Help!

I've done something nasty to the auto-lists on the main Quaker page. It should show a list of decv & one of published stories (there are no published stories yet). I can't see what's wrong. Can anyone help? ClareWhite 08:11, 22 July 2005 (UTC)

I'm very tired so this may not make sense... I fixed the error message by adding suppresserrors=true -- additionally, articles will have to be added to [[Category:Quaker]] and [[Category:QuakerDevelop]] in order to show up in on the DPL list for this page. The template you've added using {{QuakerDevelop}} appears to link include the wrong developing stories tag. I'll try to fix. Chia did fix the original problem though - developing Quaker stories appearing on the main Workspace and Main Page. Yesterday when I was setting this up I made the decision to use category:develop, as I thought Quaker stuff should be on the main Workspace too... in hindsight, not a good idea! Policy suggestion: 'original author involved'

This is something that I think will apply to other communities in Wikinews so it would be useful to create a suggested policy here.

Often Friends will be submitting news in which they are personally involved which they think is of interest to the community (Quaker website editor launches music podcast programme|This story]] is a good example). Now, I see no problem with this but it is important that the involvement is made clear and that any first person references are taken out in order to make it into a news story rather than more of a press release. My suggestion is that we flag, either with a template or just a note at the top, articles like these 'original author involved' and that the original piece becomes the source material for any rewrites. It may be that no rewriting is necessary but in many cases people, especially if they are new, will write a first hand account which will make useful source material and this is a way we will use it. I will enact the suggestion on the Podcasting story and you will see what I mean. Thoughts? ClareWhite 10:40, 27 July 2005 (UTC)
