Nederlands: Breda, 21 juni 2013 – Zo’n 200 jongens en meisjes beleefden vandaag de dag van hun leven op de velden van VV Baronie in Breda. Onder toeziend oog van bondscoach Louis van Gaal deden zij mee aan de ING Ballenjongens en –meiden Selectiedag. De bondscoach gaf de kinderen nuttige tips en adviezen die van pas zullen komen bij de belangrijke taak als ballenjongen of –meisje. Hij werd daarbij geassisteerd door ex-internationals John van den Brom en Arthur Numan. Uiteindelijk selecteerde de bondscoach 14 kinderen die langs de lijn zullen staan bij de WK kwalificatiewedstrijd Nederland-Hongarije. “Het was heel bijzonder dat de bondscoach er was, want van hem hoorden we wat de spelers ook belangrijk vinden in een wedstrijd waar je als ballenjongen langs de lijn staat!”, aldus een van de deelnemers. Ook Louis van Gaal was erg te spreken over de deelnemers: “Ik heb hier wel wat jong talent gezien, niet alleen als ballenjongen of –meisje maar ook op voetbalgebied. Maar het belangrijkste is dat deze kinderen een middag vol plezier en sportbeleving hebben beleefd. Want plezier in het voetbal en in sport in het algemeen is het allerbelangrijkste.”
De ING Ballenjongens en –meiden Selectiedag werd georganiseerd door ING, hoofdsponsor van de KNVB.
English: Breda, 21 June 2013 - Around 200 boys and girls experienced today on the fields of VV Baronie in Breda. Under the watchful eye of national coach Louis van Gaal, they participated in the ING Ball Boys and Girls Selection Day. The national coach gave the children useful tips and advice that will be useful for the important task as a ball boy or girl. He was assisted by ex-internationals John van den Brom and Arthur Numan. In the end, the national coach selected 14 children who will stand along the line at the World Cup qualification competition between the Netherlands and Hungary. "It was very special that the national coach was there, because we heard from him what the players think is important in a match where you stand as a ball boy along the line!", Said one of the participants. Louis van Gaal was also very pleased with the participants: “I have seen some young talent here, not only as a ball boy or girl, but also in the field of football. But the most important thing is that these children have experienced an afternoon full of fun and sports experience. Because fun in football and sports in general is the most important thing. ”
