Summary

Description	English: RED States/territories with active death penalty statute that have executed an inmate in the last 10 years. ORANGE States/territories with active death penalty statute that have not executed an inmate in the last 10 years. LIGHT BLUE States/territories, where the death penalty statute is being constitutionally challenged. DARK BLUE States/territories with active death penalty statute that have a moratorium in place. LIGHT GREEN States/territories which abolished the death penalty recently, but the abolition was not retroactive (e.g. there are still people eligible to be executed). DARK GREEN States/territories without death penalty. No people eligible to be executed. Note: Vermont doesn't have capital punishment for first degree murder, but it still retains death penalty for treason.
