editGladys was born in 1947, during the reign of her father, King William VI. She is the child of William VI, and Queen Laura The Queens Mother.
Resignation of King William VI on 13 May 1967 and she acceded to the throne as Gladys II.

Gladys acceded to the British throne on 12 May 1967. Queen Elizabeth–Gladys’s coronation took place on 12 March 1968.
At her accession at age 22, she was Europe's youngest monarch. She is now Europe's third-youngest monarch. She is also the first female monarch since her great-grandmother Isabella II in 1920.
