From the story it sounds like Arthur C. Clarke has dies from complications regarding post-polio syndrom, and while this may be technically correct, I would never have thought to attribute someone dying at the age of 90, 50 years after having polio, as anything but dying of old age.
Anyway - he was a fantastic writer among other things and may he rest in peace.
