Time To Stop
editI believe Israel has been wronged but, it is time to stop. You can quickly go from self defense to just a bully. A very childish word I know but, there is no other word for it. Israel needs to lay off. They are killing Hamas but they are also having to much collateral damage for comfort. The government of the Gaza Strip needs to quit harboring these men and stuff like this wouldn't happen. The U.N. should step in along with N.A.T.O. to ease tensions and end this. It seems small now but, this little skirmish could erupt into another Yom Kippur War. A peace treaty of some sort should be reached. Gaza should give up their terrorists and Israel will quit this slaughter. After the fact Israel should provide humanitarian help to Gaza. The U.N. and N.A.T.O. should pressure both countries to accept such a deal. It is definitely time to stop. --Ender (talk) 15:51, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- The idea that Israel had the right to bomb the Gazans in the first place is ridiculous, this is the 30th year of a brutal occupation of the West Bank and an illegal harsh blockade of Gaza, what is Israel's claim of self-defense, that they were attacked by rockets? Well let's take a look at casualties, reports from 2007 estimate that between January and October of 2007 500 Gazans were killed by Israeli strikes. Okay that was 9 months, 500 Palestinians killed. What about Israeli casualties? Between 2002 and 2007 there were eight people who died from rocket attacks eminating from Gaza...without even looking at whether in fact those rocket attacks were somewhat justified, the disproportionate use of force is quite obvious. Then if we want to get into the context of the issue itself, Israel is an enormous human rights violator guilty of dozens of crimes against the palestinians, convicted by the world court of breaking the geneva convention numerous times, and an aggresive occupier that puts its occupied civilians under an apartheid rule, where is the justification for this assault?Soapy (talk) 18:31, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- I believe someone should blow up Israel as soon as possible, after what they have pulled. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 85.96.254.192 (talk • contribs)
- That is going too far, though I think you only intended to be controversial by saying that and didn't think beyond that. At this point the existence of Israel is too important in the industrial development of the region. Too much money has been invested into that state to destroy it now. Israeli government policies absolutely need to be changed, and Israeli leaders and military commanders absolutely need to be held accountable for their excessive actions. War crimes trials for all of them. But, the existence of Israel is a fact, just as the existence of Palestine is a fact. Strip the governments of Israel and Palestine from power, replace all of their cronies with outside personnel. They are the causes of the real problems now. Israel mocks negotiations and sends inept negotiators, Palestine is too focused on maintaining its power standing to negotiate enough. Call up France and the UK, let them have the region again. It would be better than this mess. 74.227.158.34 20:58, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- I did think further on, and I was not trying to be controversial. I am just tired of talking about this on the webpages, too long story ;). Israel has been making so much trouble all the time. Don't forget that Israelis came over there after the Palastinians. Second, I don't think France and UK should interfere because I am sick of seeing them interfere with everything going on in this world. Further on, after this atrocious behavior of Israel, I hoped that Arab countries should at least start to help Palastinans now. It is very sad to see that so many Arab countries do nothing about this. I am sorry to break it, they never will. I don't really think industrial development is important right now, many are dying and I think no-one should care about industry as long as people are dying. It seems that Israel is kind of backing itself to USA however they should know by now that USA cannot afford (both financially and emotionally) to fight another war. Should Iran join this war with Israel, USA will join too. But with Iran joining this war, USA would have a major fall and Israel would be blown up in a day. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 85.96.254.192 (talk • contribs)
- I second that. I think someone should put a stop to this before casualties increase. Tekin (talk • contribs) 17:42, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- So what Israel's government did was wrong, but doing the country the same thing wouldn't be?... Ya'ir Hunter (talk) 22:05, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
Opinion
editHere I think Egypt has heard not co-operating would mean repercussions. The thing mubarak fears here is egyptians would know he is in the hands of us, and Israel. That they would know he is as scared for his nation (and thus his power) as his political position (and thus his power). 24.132.170.97 22:26, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- Egypt is the second highest reciever of U.S aid (Israel being number one) so Mubarak is going to do whatever Israel wants them to do, which is whatever the U.S wants them to do. That is why Egypt is helping to repress the Palestinians. Soapy (talk) 19:32, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
