This might not be the first time for this but it certainly won't be the last!—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.34.254.195 (talkcontribs)

again? edit

This happens all the time. Now that major media has picked up on it its suddenly become an issue. Nothing is going to change really, its not like these cam sites can monitor every broadcast. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.228.129.185 (talk) 18:25, 23 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

So he was a showman. Who cares. Most people lead lives of misery anyway. Shows he had above average intelligence. I say good for him, and hopefully the reporters covering him with their tired old bxllshxt will follow suit. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.136.110.47 (talk) 19:39, 23 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Terrible! edit

This is just so disgusting! How can someone go on about making a case about kill yourself and go to the point of posting a suicide note on a forum and have hundreds of people just laugh? I could sort of understand if he had been contemplating this for a long time and people stopped believing him... However, some one should of stould up and took action even if he was just faking it. --Ub3rst4r (talk) 20:39, 23 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Many international viewers tried to alert the police but they refused to act. The police need to get shamed here for ignoring multiple calls that warned them of what was going on.

I feel so sorry for his family- my thoughts & prayers go out to them. As for the action of videocamming (or whatever it is called) I see that alot of the shows on tv are doing the same- showing people being murdered , raped etc live. It is no wonder in this crazy world of technology??? that people are getting these ideas. We should have taken control years ago by boycotting what horrific shows are on tv. I hope noone else copies this young mans actions and I hope that his family can find some peace in their lives in this terrible time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.53.73.86 (talk) 14:48, 24 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

teen broadcasts suicide edit

I agree with the sister. Anyone that cheered should be arrested. The sites should be sued to the bare bone to show we won't stand for them selling this kind of garbage. I hope alot of folks go to jail. DavidG--76.75.1.46 15:18, 24 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

How can you blame the people watching for this? The internet is not responsible for HIS actions. Given the garbage that is spread on the net, like 4chan for example, I don't know how anyone could have believed the kid was actually going to do it. As for the people who watched, how in the hell do you expect them to know where this kid lived to stop his actions? How was anyone to know it was serious (even though he announced it days before)? To blame the site, and the users is ridiculous. Humans are responsible for their own actions. And if you, an adult or young adult, cannot hold responsibility for your actions, then you need some mental health counseling. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 17:55, 24 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'll add to DragonFire1024's sentiment by asking a simple question: If someone jumps off a bridge, are the people in the cars driving past responsible? Same situation. Gopher65talk 17:59, 24 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Public suicides edit

According to Montana Miller of the Bowling Green State University, cases like this are not rare: "If it's not recorded or documented, then it doesn't even seem worthwhile. For today's generation it might seem, What's the point of doing it if everyone isn't going to see it?"

It's always been like this. Think of Jesus, what if nobody knew of his suicide? --195.49.248.147 17:50, 24 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

What is wrong with people edit

I am listening to Glen Beck on KTAR tell this story. What is wrong with people today? Why dont we help each other? WHY! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.180.146.171 (talk) 20:47, 24 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

See above comments...Humans are responsible for their actions, not the internet. It was NO one's responsibility to do anything. Stop blaming the internet and the people who watched. They had nothing to do with his suicide. DragonFire1024 (Talk to the Dragon) 21:25, 24 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
I agree. In my opinion, people have a right to their lives and equivalent rights to end said lives. Preferably, there is nothing the police could do. (Excepting, of course, a situation in which his suicide disrupted his parents or other property owners, whereupon it would be proper for the police to evict him from the property. I wouldn't want someone killing themselves in my house either.) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.45.213.138 (talk) 22:35, 24 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
