Comments:Taliban resurgent in Pakistan on enforcement of Sharia law
An insightful article by Riaz Hakeem
editThis article is really insightful, and gives some very good and practical suggestions to international community to counter terrorism in that part of the world. I would like to thank Riaz Hakeem for sharing his views.
The people of the tribal areas and Pashtun of NWFP and Baluchistan in general should be directly involved to take the ownership of this war on terror. If the International community will contract this job to Pakistan, then this problem is not going to solve. Pakistan will never want to have sustainable positive changes in the lives of Pashtuns of the tribal areas and adjacent provinces of NWFP and Baluchistan.
There is a need to bring dire changes in the political, economic, social and eductional development of those areas. As a Pakistani writer in his recent book writes that to finish terrorim and extremism from the world, Pakistan needs to be divided and the united nations and the international community should help in this regard.

Excellent Article
editit was refreshing to read an article that actually provided context for a change. most reports only provide surface information. mr. hakim, because of his background and connections in the area, is an excellent resource. i would like to see follow-up interviews with him. i agree with him that the problems are not going to go away until the real issues are addressed, and i think he makes several good proposals. we need to hear more from the people directly involved. thanks! -eli
