This should be a featured news article, seeing as the end of this civil war is historic. 96.244.205.177 (talk) 04:28, 17 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yep, it's now a lead on the front page. Tempodivalse [talk] 14:02, 17 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

It's a beautiful day

edit

This represents a tremendous victory for the forces of freedom over the international terrorist organizations. The LTTE has long been an active participant in the running of drugs, laundering of money, and procurer/transporting of weapons for other terrorist organizations. They introduced the suicide bomber to the world, and assassinated the leaders of Sri Lanka and India. The world should rejoice the demise of these thugs. --King ravana (talk) 14:19, 17 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Civilians rescued

edit

Guys, the government now says that all civilians are out of the conflict zone now (defence ministry, bbc). This should be added to the article. 202.129.232.130 (talk) 15:40, 17 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Saddest Day Ever

edit

Really Sad day for every Tamil People, the goverment killed thousands of people and are just ignoring it. Mahinda is totally ignoring the fact that 1000's of people has died, and when he arrived yesterday he didn't care about the civilians that was caught in the ceasfire and instead of beeing nervous for the civilians, he kiss the ground, is that a example for a leader, i wouldn't call it. I don't think the war is ended is just began, they are forgetting the fact that LTTE is master in Guerilla wars. The Leader hasn't been foud dead eventhough that the goverment is sending out propeganda to say that he is, seriously how can a man die in 3 different ways, that must be a joke. Eventhough they are in a pressed situation that realeased some prisoners, thats humanity not like the goverment who are killing innocent civilians people. I am sure that the International Pressure will be held as soon as they will get the message about how many innocent civilians that have died, without any reason. The Goverment is now trying to redirect the attention to some other things so they can have some time to see what they can do to stop the thruth to be revailed.

Let me get this straight, you seem to think that the LTTE are a noble bunch of Boy Scouts beset upon by some evil, overbearing regime! That's rich. The LTTE never worried a fig about the Tamil people. They ripped little kids out of school and forced them to be soldiers. They raped little girls and turned them into suicide bombers. They murdered countless Tamil civilians who dared to disagree with them. They assassinated heads-of-state in both Lanka and India. They ran drugs and guns for other terrorist organizations around the globe. THEY held thousands of civilians as human shields/hostages in the closing days of the war, but, of course, you want to blame the government for the deaths of those folks. What sort of warrior hides behind civilians instead of facing the foe in combat. As a war veteran, I will tell you. Cowards hide behind civilians, and that is just what your beloved LTTE was...emphasis on the past tense. It is amusing to see the Tamil diaspora become so vocal in the waning days of the war...the diaspora composed of those who were too craven to fight for Eelam. You are so brave with thousands of miles of ocean between you and the conflict and with the fighting now over. Could it be that you are so vocal because you know that you can no longer claim asylum now that the war is over, and you are scared of returning to Lanka to face those you left behind. Have a nice trip home...next time don't be afraid to sign your post. Surely you at least have that much conviction in your words.--King ravana (talk) 00:35, 19 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Clearly you don't know a dime about me(and i am glad for that), i don't have a asylum, cause i have tha passport in the country i live in and i will therefore not be senyt home, and ofcause i don't live in Sri Lanka, cause in that country i will be seen as a Tiger and already been caught and tortured if i had said something like that in Sri lanka. I thank the leader(not your leaders), cause he was the reason i am here. You say that they used Civilians as shield, you are clearly under the massive propeganda that YOUR goverment runs, the LTTE allowed the Red Cross to carry the civilians out, but your goverment didn't allowed them and the injured DIED, and you say that it wasn't your goverments fault, i will tell you that you are wrong. The goverment said that only LTTE's Freedom Fighters was in the confflict area, i just ask how the hell can 50.000 Civilians be "helped" out. Now the Sri Lanka tv shows FAKE images of the leader, where he is dead, buit clearly they either don't have the expetise to see that they are wrong or simply don't want to see the thruth. Why the hell will he have his ID-card on him when he is fleeing away, and how the hell can he look younger now, an ofcause the military will try to convince you about that he found a miracle medicin that had done him younger. Yes I will have a nice trip home, from my office to home.

That's truly sad that you have a passport in a Western country. Probably 20 plus years in the country and you are still borderline inarticulate in the language. Let me guess, a Snow Tiger in Canada? By the way, you are even more clueless about me. I am neither Sinhala nor Tamil, but rather a South Asian scholar. You claim I have bought into the propaganda of the state-controlled media. Again, wrong, but I bet you get all your juicy info from TamilNet and other terrorist-related websites. Soldiers, and apparently terrorists, wear their dogtags, IDs in civilian jargon, at all times. At least you admitted the coward was running away. As to why he looks younger, I can't say I agree with you, but he likely lost some weight after being chased out of his luxury hideaway a couple months ago and actually had to start living like the rest of the dupes in the LTTE. Cutting out all the fat from his diet may have done his fat little pork-like body some good. However, I would wager losing the back of his head didn't. Likely caused from the explosion of all the air and feces filling his cranium. If your glorious leader, a Christian who claimed to be an incarnation of Visnu and espoused Marxism, were still alive you can bet we would have seen his ugly mug on all his propagandist website by now. I noticed that you didn't address the fact that your belief in Eelam was so weak that you felt compelled to run away like a little school girl rather than staying and fighting for the cause. I suppose now you will carry out little acts of terror in Canada or Australia like you little buddies are doing by burning Buddhist shrines and throwing acid on sleeping Sinhalese, but, keep in mind we Westerners will not tolerate that sort of thing. Passport or no, you might well find yourself with a one way ticket back from whence you came...or better yet, rot in a Western jail. Tamil Eelam is over having never truly existed. The idea that the Tamils needed to carve out a "homeland" in Lanka was ridiculous in the first place, especially when they have Nadu just 20 miles or so away. If you read the ancient chronicles, they claim that the Tamil homeland was submerged beneath the sea. It's a crying shame it didn't take the more bellicose of the breed with it. President Rajapaksa reached out to the Tamil community in his speech yesterday, and if they don't accept it then their plight on the island will continue to be miserable, and, as before, they will have no one else to blame but themselves...and the British.--King ravana (talk) 17:20, 19 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
