If his fans that had attended his concert were truly his fans, they should cordially

understand to take into consideration that Meatloaf was only human, like the rest of us.

He may not only suffered from a sore throat, but May had other Underlying medical issues with his health at the time?

At least his fans at that particular concert were entertained for over an hour.

It was the logical and sensitive statement to announce, those in attendance would not receive a refund for their tickets; especially since they had actively witness his first 70 minutes of his concert.

There have been other performers who had been unable to perform even in less time than Meatloaf had performed. And had to leave the stage, due to an illness.

Though that concert had taken so many years ago, I’m sure those fans who had been present, now realize they had the opportunity to see Meatloaf LIVE IN CONCERT and can remember it today…the day after he had Passed Away at 74 years of age.

Rest In Peace, Meatloaf, Eternally~

I was at the concert

edit

I was at the concert at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle. I've loved meatloaf since i was young at the wife bought us tickets for the event as a present. I was really looking forward to it as some friends had been to his 2006 concert and had a great time. I, and most of the audience, found that this concert was very poor. He did not sing in tune and seemed to be getting 'carried' by the backing singers and musicians, and when he walked off at the end... very disappointing - He didn't even sing 'Bat out of Hall' !!!

I for one would demand a refund on the tickets as the concert was a complete letdown, having spent loads of money on merchandise epecting a great show.....

End of the day, he looked ill when he first came out, several times during the show he looked like he was having a bad turn. He should have cancelled the concert and re-scheduled.

Very disappointed fan

If he's ill he's ill and I wish him well. However the show was substandard he clearly should not have gone on in the first instance and if it went over an hour it only did so by a few minutes. If you went to see a film at the cinema that you could reasonably expect to last for a couple of hours and it stopped after an hour would you not expect a refund? I would and do.

Sore throat? Well that would certainly explain the slurred words, being out of beat, staggering around the stage, having your eyes almost shut for the majority of the time, the shaking hand, being unable to stand up straight, and looking like he was off his face. Oh no, wait, it wouldn't. Am I the only one that thinks he was off his face last night? I have never been so disappointed in my life! Someone may as well just tell me that santa isn't real and that will just finish me off. What do you mean he doesn't exist? Ohhh gooood nooooooo...say it ain't so!!! That's it. Goodbye cruel world....

meatloaf falling ill at concert

edit

i agree with other comments made on the net that meatloaf's performance was poor from the outset, and something was definitely wrong. I have seen him perform many times live, and he has been absolutely magic on these occasions, but last night he seemed to struggle to hit the right notes and sometimes you couldn't hear him. there were chaotic scenes inside the venue when the concert was suddenly brought to an abrupt end. I think patti russo was a huge miss, and the new backing singers just couldn't cut it. pearl aday (meatloaf's daughter) provided great support with her band motherpearl.i am a bit disgruntled to learn of the arena's comments of not refunding the fans part of their money, as meatloaf had performed for over an hour.i believe this is desputable as he came on well after 8.30 and we were out of the arena at quarter to 10!

Also at the show

edit

I was also at the show, last night. I was told by one of the staff there that Meat was with paramedics after the show, so I honestly do think the guy was ill. However, I have to say, I don't think he should have come on in the first place. He did at times seem very disoriented, but I'm convinced he wasn't high or drunk, just ill. Anyhow, I was also told that anyone wanting refunds should contact the tour promoter "Kennedy Street" NOT the venue. I also believe he was on stage for under an hour, as he was late getting on stage in the first place.

I want my money back

edit

I was at the concert and have been a fan of Meatloaf for years and love his music but feel that I was ripped off. If Meatloaf had a sore throat he should have cancelled the concert and given his fans their money back not given them a very second rate, short performance. This is the one and only time I have seen him live and was really looking to it. I spent a lot of time and money travelling to the event. I was VERY disappointed.

Meat Loaf Takes His Bat Home

edit

I was a huge Meat Loaf fan but after last night am left wondering if I and the other thousands of fans have been conned. I was at this concert and was bitterly disappointed at the poor performance and shocked when he abandoned the show. If he was ill he should have cancelled instead of allowing the tour promoters to extort money from people. I paid £53 for my ticket and believe that I should be reimbursed the full amount as the tour promoters did not uphold their end of the bargain. But at the end of the day money is not the issue - morals are. I was really looking to seeing my hero for the first time live and paid a day's salary for the ticket and drove for two hours to the venue. It seems like a plan was hatched to stick him on stage for an hour so the promoters could make their money and not pay fans a refund. He sang six songs, even Meat Loaf can't make six songs last an hour, how ironic that he sang 'I want my money back'. I know how he feels - so do I.

meatloaf - ill

edit

i think for meatloaf to end the concert early it must be quite bad as i believe he is one of a few performers who take his role seriously and would carry on if he could... hope he gets well soon Deb

Meatloaf a diabetic?

edit

I heard that Meatloaf was diagnosed with diabetes a number of years ago... and thats why he changed his eating habits and lost weight. His voice still blinds me ... he is the best. ~Annette~

It's now 2009 and my wife and I still feel cheated by this effort. I was able to go to one of the earlier Newcastle shows (my wife was ill and couldn't make it). That show was fantastic, even after his customary shaky start. I brought back good tidigns of a great night and, more importantly, news of tickets for the return concert.... Being a lifelong ML fan, she built up hopes of a show of a lifetime, with the full backing of my earlier experience. Avid fans may deny it but from the opening vocal, all was far from well. The mighty Loaf staggered, slurred, swore, muttered and fell about the stage. I was ashamed. My wife had dreamt of this concert for months, hoped to see him live for years. This was shocking. It was so bad, we had to leave by the end of song three, if only to preserve the memory of a fanship. Any longer would have been an afront to a belief in his abilities. At the door, there was already a queue of complainants asking for refunds. The publicity denies this strenuously, but we were in a queue of at least thirty people (this was less than 20 minute into the concert). News that he walked off arrived later that night. We are surprised he wasn't carried off on a stretcher. Sore throat, my arse. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.157.156.13 (talk) 18:05, 24 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
