Comments:Senegal president offers free land to "repatriate" Haitians

It is honourable that president Wade wants to repatriate Haitians who have been affected by this dreadful disaster. However, president Wade did not say where the land was coming from. Wade's land reform laws have affected mostly the Serer farmers of Senegal, whose lands inherited from the Serer lamanic custom were ceized and appropriated at will mostly to corporations under the banner of "development". Adama Diouf in his programme "Guisse-Guisse" covers this topic extensively. Many Serer farming communities who are the food producers of Senegal have lost their land.
