This type of situation gets me thinking about how far free speech should extend. I'm not talking about the hate speech Christian used while on the train, but the altright internet websites he has said to have frequently visited. This country has made it okay for heinous words to be said at no mercy or remorse. Those websites are violent and threaten many groups of people based on many things. We have outlawed communism in this country because it degrades people and is a generally oppressive system, but how is this neoxonservatism any different? Those same people who fight for their "free {hate} speech" most likely approve of the censorship of communsim. Any group or system or ideology that falls under this category should be treated equally under the law; that could mean havwbdull free speech and allow people to voice their opinions or outlaw websites that consistently empower nazis. Going back to the incident at hand, by Christian'a potential comments on these kinds of websites maybe he could have been arrested earlier on and these lives could have been saved. Open forums for people to incite hate and encourage violence should be condemned and looked into because these people are terrorists. These websites are terrorist affiliated and are not seen for what they are. A terrorist is not a Muslim middle eastern and that idea must be spread. The US has a duty to protect its citizens and these Altright websites are an apparent danger that must be taken seriously.
