Apparently I lost track of Belgian affairs after Leterme, and as soon as I saw this article, I bet myself this guy was in a christian democratic party. CHA-CHING! After all, there wouldn't have been anyone supporting him if he wasn't neoconservative and lacking in any opinions of his own. Permanent not because Rompuy will remain president for life but permanent because the presidency is no more rotated every six months between the member states

- From what i've understood Rompuy will remain president for 2 and half years. Then another president will be elected. About the method of election i don't think there is an established procedure so it will be decided during Ronpuy's term. Personally i'd prefer if the president of europe would be elected directly by the population of europe and not nominated by the commission. Problem is that the same people who say that both the commission and the the presidency are not democratic enough are also against direct elections.
