Hi, I think the title for this article is outrageous. "Battling" suggests that there are two sides engaged in combat. Massacre would be more appropriate. The people of Palestine, while a few have rockets, most have stones. The Israeli army is supplied and funded by the US military. It is an invasion and a massacre and in no way should it be construed as a battle.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 97.120.20.116 (talkcontribs)

^ Exactly. The terms of the cease-fire would only go one way. How does Israel expect Hamas to agree to a one-sided cease-fire? Ahaha, it's ridiculous. Israel needs to stop this massacre.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 151.199.195.151 (talkcontribs)

The whole area is a mess. And the people in Gaza don't just have stones, many have AK47s. Religious zealotry on both sides has poisoned minds. Build a wall round the entire place, and call it the "Middle-East Asylum" - they're all batshit insane. --Brian McNeil / talk 11:08, 14 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Violation of Human Rights

edit

Why doesn't the UN consider the firing of rockets into Israel a violation? Israel is justified for defending itself. Some points to consider:

Does Hamas send relief trucks into Israel after they fire rockets? Does Hamas send flyers and phone calls to neighborhoods before they attack? No they don't. But Israel does. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 198.134.51.13 (talkcontribs)

When 8 or 9 people are killed it is a disturbing thing, when 800 or 900 people are killed and deaths continue to mount all in a small area with a restricted population and cut off from economic development it is all sorts of other things. 68.210.105.139 01:25, 14 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
So for this to be a fair fighting, all we Israeli's should do is to die more often? You know, In world war II, the German army had far more death's then the united stated. I don't think you will blame the united states for that fact. In a war - you should do all you can to attack the enemey, and to protect your people. If the palestinians wants this attacks to stop, all they have to do is to stop firing missles on my home. לירן (talk) 09:06, 14 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

You have not even read the comment I made. My point is that it is the application of excessive force and the indiscriminate nature of its use that the UN is taking issue with here. Come back when you can read, and take your little fan-boy away with you. 68.210.105.139 21:31, 14 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
Support Terrorism and you will fell repercussion. Support Peace and you can enjoy a prosperity. Which the UN dos not understand since they only see "Zionist" killing "Freedom Fighters" (got to love a organization fell with Racist nations). So learn world affairs and how Bias is the UN.--KDP3 (talk) 23:21, 14 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
It is precisely that blind philosophy that caused the greatest horrors of the last century. The Armenian genocide, the holocaust, the Balkans genocide. Destroying a town and killing its population is not a legitimate method to fight an enemy, much less working to do that to a larger area. That is not always from the directions of the state and can often be from the personal agendas of military commanders, but then the state has a responsibility to punish and replace that commander and correct their actions. Either way such behavior is a crime against humanity, and the civilized world has long been opposed and metes out punishment to discourage those kinds of policies. Israel is capable of a targeted response but chooses not to pursue that method for some reason. That invalidates the self-defense arguments because there are other means. Most analysis identifies that second purpose as destroying Palestine as a concept, given the previous Israeli government practices of claiming increasing amounts of land and killing everyone they can who opposes those claims. 68.210.105.139 23:57, 14 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Headline

edit

Change the word "on" to "in". It describes better the objective view of what's going on there. The fight isn't for/on Gaza but is taking place in Gaza. I can't chnage the headline, so whoever can, please do (here and in the main page)—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.74.116.2 (talkcontribs)

WHY???

edit

I guess standing up for yourself is a human rights violation? Wow. The world has gone to the dumps. We should get behind Israel and finish this. Hamas has been attacking Israel with terrorists since its birth in 1948. Israel has given Hamas many chances to stop and they haven't. Why must it be different here? How would it be if Hamas had been attacking Russia or France? They would have jumped up and wiped the Gaza Strip out with out mercy. As I see it most of the world would rather kiss the terrorists butts than get rid of them. Israel is in the right. Why must we punish the only country that stands up to the bully? Radical Islam is the enemy not Israel. If we do not defeat the radicals now we will die alone. I can assure you that. --Ender (talk) 22:44, 14 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

A Permanant solution to the Palestinian problem

edit

The age old Palestinian problem may be resolved amicably if the Arab nationals called Palestinians see the Israelis otherwise called Jews as their brothers and they exercise the emotion of love for other human around the world. The origin of terrorism in the world as we know is from the Arab culture, where the social groups ;from the age old times were just savagely fighters who see other men as just enemy beasts. The life and teachings of Jesus did not bring change to the Arab community, as the interference from the part of Mohammad came in between; and he could not bring about change in the human mind .Definitely he brought about a cultural change among the desert communities in the form of a religion. But unfortunately it is mistaken by the human mass that Mohammad meant that other people who do not embrace Islam are all to be treated like enemies. If the Muslims of the world accept that all others are their brothers , and they exercise love for the mankind, all the problems are solved. Then the Palestine problem or any other problem will not exist. Power may not be viewed as important, but fraternity is everything. We must learn to live as brothers, and the problem gets solved.

The origin of the word assassin is Persian, but the concept it embodies is much much older and was always common throughout Europe and all other areas with some history. 72.154.55.98 21:19, 19 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
