What exactly does Barack Obama's opinion have to do with this wiki? I'm certain several people have an opinion about the former president meeting with the Hamas leader. I don't think singling out one person's opinion falls in line with Wikipedia standards. Maybe more people can comment about this? I'm just a random visitor

Barack Obama is the probable future US president. --A101 - (talk) 06:03, 21 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

We must not negotiate with a terrorist group intent on Israel's destruction edit

Does future President Obama mean that we must not negotiate with terrorist groups at all or just for general peace talks but talks of prisoner release are okay?

I would perhaps think like the second possibility because the Israelis themselves agreed to sit down and talk about prisoner release.

Or maybe there's a difference between the US and Israel. The US would give the Hamas terrorist group global recognition if they would talk with them. On the other hand if Israel would talk with their enemy even a general peace talk would not give them any recognition.

Or perhaps it would make more sense to say that Obama meant his statement across the board. This is because any group that partakes in negotiations with the US makes then appear like global partners with the US and that they have something that the US wants from them. But in reality a terrorist group has nothing good except for denouncing their terrorist activities.

Peace on Earth in our lifetime. edit

Former President Jimmy Carter who is also a man of God is trying to bring peace on Earth for all of us. If it takes meeting with the likes of Hamas and it up sets Israel,so what. Israel is not the centre of the world.
