Very, very tragic

edit

Coming from the mainframe world of 24 years, you always kept a "disaster recovery" backup in place - preferably "off-site".

We also had a multi-generational backup strategy in place - daily (7 incremental), weekly (4or5 incremental and full), monthly (12 incremental and full), and yearly (full) (as long as you want).

So on a recover like this, you would start with the last good yearly backup and work your way forward in time until you stop at the suspected corrupted backup.

Yes, mainframer's had this down to a science - we just had to or the company would come to a halt.

AND every year, we planned a disaster recovery drill - at another location - to make you sure this would work EVERY TIME.

This will not help this company - now - but I hope other companies will take it to heart.

"Hackers" do not destroy

edit

I'm sorry for your loss, however "Crackers" destroy people's hard work. "Hackers" do not. Please get your vocabulary correct.--Diniz55 (talk) 22:17, 2 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

What an asshole.
