A lot of facts have been with held from the information listed. from 1923 - 1970 more than three feet of up lift were noted from construction surveys. from 1976 - 1985 noticed a one inch per year rise until a series of earth quakes rocked the park. from 1985 - 1995 the caldera deflated and reinflated by 7 inches. From 1995 - 2002 measured rise of one inch per year noted. In the meantime , a previously undetected 25-mile-wide swell began outside the caldera, near Norris Geyser basin. from 2002 to present approx. three inch per year rise has been noted. In March 2003 14 new steam vents opened along a 230 foot line north of Norris Geyser basin.
