International Dakar Security Program

I think that that an some of the major countries who are involved in the war on terrorism should come together and pool their resources in order to in sure the saftey of competitors and the event should be run as soon as possible. I understand how difficult this is and expensive but it also sends a message that the world absolutely will not tolerate terrorism and is willing to stand together to make sure that terrorists have as little impact as possible on events such as Dakar.

I do not care if this means the U.S. Army must give the competitors attack helicopter and A-10 escorts to make sure no one is a threat to the vehicles. If all countries who are fighting terrorism made a contribution it would be possible to hold the event. This is the type of thing I want my tax dollars to go to because this would sent all terrorists a message that no matter how difficult the circumstances the world will over come terrorism!

no they should not stop yhe event,as it is an internattional event, its botheringgggg

I really hate Islamic terrorist. Dakar was such a wonderful race and my company has lost $6 million dollars because of the cancellation.

The west must kill these people. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.90.177.194 (talk) 06:23, 8 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Not nice but probably the right decision

edit

It's bad news for the sport and bad news for the war on terror. The only excuse is the short notice - I admit it was by all means impossible to take security precautions, given so little time to act.

I do hope the next year's venue will be held. I don't think those terrorist bastards would be any good in aiming moving targets, they are much more into cowardly killing innocent civilians in market places or alike. So with some air patrolling of the route and guarding the night camps the security should be possible at reasonable cost.

We must send that signal that we won't back off on terror threats. This year, sadly, there was not enough time to prepare.

I am already looking forward to the next year's venue.

Why cant the terrorists just stay out of international affaris. The U.S. has a right to try and destroy terrorism —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.167.157.226 (talk) 20:17, 2 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
