Alive edit

Is this a prepared? because he is currently alive according to valid news sources, Wikipedia. SkruhKidd2 (talk) 13:26, 29 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

It is, apparently, a prepared story, although it is not being stored in Wikinews:Story preparation. @Koavf: Some might raise a not-a-web-host objection to this being stored in your userspace, which, they say, discourages collaboration. If you move it to story prep, beware articles there may be deleted ten days after being tagged as "unsourced or largely unsourced". Heavy Water (talk) 16:11, 29 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
What do you recommend then? —Justin (koavf)TCM 20:34, 29 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
It is. —Justin (koavf)TCM 20:19, 29 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Koavf, Jimmy might not die for awhile just saying, no one can predict death. SkruhKidd2 (talk) 21:22, 29 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Of course not, but the obit of a president is a huge undertaking. I can 100% promise you that the New York Times has had a draft obituary for him for decades. Rather than scramble to write this after he's dead, it makes sense to get started now. There should be draft obituaries for a host of public figures. —Justin (koavf)TCM 21:31, 29 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Eh. I'm fine if it sits here for now. I know this isn't Wikipedia, but the userspace over there is chock-full of utterly useless garbage that veers far further over the NOTWEBHOST line than this. IMO, not concerned about discouraging collaboration if the alternative is keeping it offline in a text editor file or something to avoid a PROD issue as it is developed. (The usual way to avoid a prepared story qualifying for that PROD criterion would be adding sourcing for the background information — which is probably going to be most of a prepared story (one of the arguments for adopting that requirement was that there were stories in prep containing tons of unsourced material, which would therefore actually slow publication when the event happened)). Hey, far be it for me, of all people, to critique doing things out of order — different strokes &c. — but fair enough. Tyrol5 (talk) 00:43, 30 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
I personally don't see an issue with storing this in userspace in this case, where the prepared material has an obvious use in the near future. I'd prefer if it was sourced from the beginning to ensure verifiability doesn't become an issue later, but that's not a requirement if it's in userspace as far as I know. I realize "the usual way" may seem to imply I think this way's unacceptable; but, my 23:54 comment was just intended to provide explanation, as asked for above, of what I would recommend if Koavf removed it from userspace. Maybe I should've placed it further up the page, but I felt like a more generally-directed remark was warranted. Heavy Water (talk) 02:27, 30 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Good deal. I'm surprised anyone even found this since it has the NOINDEX magic word. —Justin (koavf)TCM 02:58, 30 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Oh, I saw it in RC. Heavy Water (talk) 03:50, 30 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
