New Policy has users up in smoke edit

Hello. I am not sure if you check this page anymore, but I thought you might be interested as to what is going on here at Wikinews: Wikinews:Image use policy/New wikimedia policy action plan. I am outraged as well as others...do you have an opinion? DragonFire1024 09:49, 30 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Tracing the Lond Bombings and Wikinews Timeline edit

I am working on my PhD dissertation, which is focused on the use of social software during times of disaster. For the London Bombing entry, it's listed that you created the entry at . Of course, the event did not occur until 8:49. So I'm wondering how can that be? Is it due to the the time zone were you in when that was posted? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you! Look at me! out of my box!!! edit

Why have you created this page? I appreciate you are demonstrating something on enwiki but I don't see why this page needs to exist. Adambro 10:47, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Just started edit

Hi Dan,

I just started getting into WikiNews. I'll tell you the truth...I've always been interested in News and Photography and this is a great outlet to report. My goal is to get a press pass and getting even more breaking news. I've started one article on my own but I don't know if it ever got published and also contributed to another. Do they not automatically go to my username page? How do I keep track of what I've contributed to. I'm sure you need to have contributed to a lot before you should request a press pass so want to know how to that.. Look forward to hearing from you.

supposed sexism edit

Hello Dan100,

I read your comment in the 'Talk:UK study claims men have higher average I.Q. than women' article dated August 2005 and I felt that, sadly, this is a typical response these days to anyone who puts forth a study, a theory, or in any way makes a statement that either supports men, or, going one step further, has the temerity to say that men are in some way better than women....there is an instant uproar. On the other hand, if a women's group makes an accusation or some offensive/insulting comment against men or a statement that vaunts the supposed advantages/superiority of the female species, then men expected to accept it at face value. Well, I'm tired of a very one-sided society in which men are the whipping post for the disgruntled females in our community, be they feminists or not. As regards the higher IQ of men, that is a truth that most men have known for a long time but they just keep their mouth shut because they have been taught that they mustn't upset 'the little lady'. It's long overdue for men to speak up in their own defense without intimidation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Worldwatcher (talkcontribs) 08:54, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wikinews:Editor edit

Good to see you would like to be active on this project again. In the meanwhile until the admin thing is sorted out I have promoted you to the relatively new Wikinews:Editor class, as you can obviously be trusted. Take a moment to look at Wikinews:Flagged revisions, Wikinews:Reviewing articles, {{Peer review}}, and {{Review}} (some notable changes). Cheers, Cirt (talk) 21:30, 10 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

privs edit

Busy elsewhere? We understand, but this is a notice of privilege expiry!

Note! Your privileges on English Wikinews have been reduced.

Under the Privilege expiry policy (enacted October 13, 2012) the rights held by your user account have been reduced due to inactivity, or lack of privilege use. You can view your user rights log here.
The privilege reduction is in no way intended as a reflection on your past work, or to imply you are unwelcome. The aim in curtailing privileges is to address security risks, and concern that a long period of inactivity means you may not be up-to-date with current policy and practices.
