Template background colors edit

This template had a streamlined look to Template:Continents, as they are both the top-level templates for their respective portal types. Can we please restore this? -- NGerda 23:52, August 27, 2005 (UTC)

It would be better to change Template:Continents as well. The yellow background is very hard to look at, and fonts of that size look rather ugly and out of place, at least on my machine. --Dčabrilo 23:54, 27 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
Well before we go aroud changing all of the existing templates, can we discuss this and decide on an appropriate color scheme? -- NGerda 23:56, August 27, 2005 (UTC)
Just so others know what we're talking about, we are debating over the original design:

Versus Pechorin's design:

As long as it's not something as offending as that yellow, I think we will be fine. What's wrong with the blue one? --Dčabrilo 00:00, 28 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
How is yellow "offending"? The blue is used in templates further down, such as Template:Religion. The system that was in place worked. -- NGerda 00:04, August 28, 2005 (UTC)
The color is ugly. Where is that green stripe used anyway? It also looks terrible. --Dčabrilo 00:06, 28 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
Pechorin, I don't think it's "ugly", and this is the system that has worked for a while, and no one has complained. It's a color-coding scheme that helps users identify where they are navigation-wise. The system needs to be consistent for it to work. -- NGerda 00:09, August 28, 2005 (UTC)
I like the bottom design. -Edbrown05 00:20, 28 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
OK, fine, override the time-consuming cross-portal streamlining and navigation I spent many long hours developing. You guys obviously can deal with the portal system yourselves. -- NGerda 01:37, August 29, 2005 (UTC)
I fail to see how changing a background color is a time consuming process. The coding structure of the template is the important part. The background color is 'eye candy'. -Edbrown05 05:39, 29 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
Changing the background color disrupts the time-consuming process I underwent to streamline all of the portal navigation templates. -- NGerda 18:10, August 29, 2005 (UTC)

Template:OtherTopics merge with Template:Topics edit

Does anyone object to me changing all the weather pages to template:Topics from Template:OtherTopics? The other page is only used by the weather pages and this template looks much nicer. Also if we get more sections its easier just to maintain one template. If no one objects i'll change them tommorow and make Template:OtherTopics redirect to this one. Sounds good to me. -- NGerda 21:58, August 29, 2005 (UTC)

Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender edit

I think this should be a sub-Topic, under 'Culture and entertainment'. If we get too many top level topics, it will grow into being a problem. -Edbrown05 22:20, 29 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

I think that's reasonable. --Dčabrilo 02:35, 30 August 2005 (UTC)Reply
I'll get on it right away ;) -- NGerda 02:36, August 30, 2005 (UTC)

Changed formatting edit

I've changed the "X | Y" scheme to "[ X ] [ Y ]", using nonbreaking spaces (&#160;) to prevent an isolated "[" or "]". The previous scheme, using a line break (<BR>) in place of the pipe character (|) half-way through the list, appeared to be assuming a certain broswer width and/or font settings. Since these settings will vary from person to person, it makes more sense to use a scheme that is consistent throughout. - dcljr 23:59, 24 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Changed edit

I updated this template to make the topics agree with the major portals as found at Wikinews:Browse/Topic. I also made the font smaller and chose some less abrasive colors. Feel free to revert if you object. --SVTCobra 22:13, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
