Talk:Virginia law bans mobile phone use by teen drivers

Latest comment: 4 years ago by Pi zero in topic Edit request - New York

New York and New Jersey do NOT have an "outright ban on mobile phone use". What they have said is you cannot drive with your mobile in one hand, holding it to your ear. You must use hands-free technology, whether that be a speaker-phone or an ear-piece is up to you. I suspect, but don't know, that the other states mentioned are similar. --SVTCobra 13:55, 3 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Here's a brochure on the New York State law: New Law . . .. --SVTCobra 18:14, 3 April 2007 (UTC) State Police siteReply

Here's a local news article on the New Jersey law click here. --SVTCobra 18:17, 3 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't understand why citing a Wikinews user is not allowable in an article. -Edbrown05 18:28, 3 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
It would make sense if I were an expert or a lawyer or police officer. It is just plain bizarre to take something someone said on a talk page and put it in the article. --SVTCobra 18:30, 3 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yep, it is bizarre, that's why I did it :) still laughing... -Edbrown05 18:35, 3 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

But the point is, and this is where I keep tripping, "hands-free" technology does nothing to improve on-road safety. To say that in the article would be creating news, or worse, blogging. So I have duct tape strapped accross my mouth where something that maybe needs to be said goes unsaid because it is not news. -Edbrown05 18:40, 3 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Whether or not "hands-free" is less of a hazard than just holding the phone is whole different matter. That's what the opinion/comment pages are for. --SVTCobra 18:45, 3 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
this article is currently second lead, but tagged for cleanup. not good. pls fix it soon. –Doldrums(talk) 18:54, 3 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Th ban on cell phones edit

The ban on cell phones is the stupidest thing there is. If they are going to ban teenagers from the phone they should have ban them all from all drivers. Not just the teeagers. You should lead by example.
