Talk:U.S. wants to impose its "no-fly" list on most Canadian domestic flights

The worst thing about these lists is a citizen can not find out if he is on it by inquiry; only after being embarrassed and held up during travel. Senator Edward Kennedy experienced this himself several times because a name similar to his is on the list.

This type of secret lists which have inaccuracies that may or may not be known and may or may not be corrected, were used by the nazis and have been made legend by Franz Kafka's writings.

Webster's Definition of Kafkaesque "prop. a. 1. Frightening, threating, and bewildering in a vague and unexplicable way; - of situations or regulations. Often used to describe illogical bureaucratic entanglements with no reasonable solution."

The seemingly cavalierness of the current US administation toward the 3 million+ illegals walking across the Mexican border each year (tens of thousands being non-mexican) puts their motives for such a list into question. Dozens of high school students who peacefully demonstrated at the Republican National convention were put on the list,e.g.. Paulrevere2005 12:27, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Then there is the whole concept of locking people up for years with no charges or trials at all; a sitiation that is so incompatible with freedom and democracy that it brings shame to not only the American government, but to we the citizens who have not been demonstrating hard enough against these patently un-american activities. Now our leaders want to force(blackmail) other countries like Canada into the same Kafkaesque, bureaucratic, nonsensical mentality being manifest in America and thereby drag down the priciples of freedom and due process in other countries to the depths we are reaching in our own country.

Misery loves company and so does fascism; imo. Paulrevere2005 12:45, 6 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Whoa edit

The first time I read the above comments by PaulRevere2005, I thought the same then as I do now.

Precedents are attempting to be established here that will impede travel. They will block people from people. Worse, these friendly restrictions won't go away.

Surely we US citizens understand the risk of another 9/11. How does that mean in forming a defense against it that we lose our privacy. Don't the security check points to boarding an airline invade our privacy enough? Don't the plane's locked cockpit doors secure our privacy enough?

There been no other incident since 9/11. <-- wondering, no i don't think there has been another incident. Is that because of the USA's Homeland Security? -Edbrown05 02:26, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)

No, I don't think it is because of the Homeland Security bullshit act. I think the talking heads that are working on developing the digital age are telling the US political leadership that this tracking tool or that is the answer to all their dreams... and it gets sold. -Edbrown05 02:32, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Who is really getting captured by this digital age stuff? What is this mundane spy stuff on digital identity really accomplishing? Why is it being undertaken at all? -Edbrown05 02:36, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)
