It's extremely outrageous what those uneducated local mobs did in Guatemala. Whatever the crime, committed by this couple, was, this kind of attack and death(TV video is absolutely outrageous) is disgusting and the epitomy of human surliness and atrocity. Zorba 19:21, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

Every logical person would consider this event as an "atrocity". Where is the problem? Isn't this subjective? Obviously it is gruesome but there is no doubt at all that it is an atrocity and a disgusting behaviour. You should have seen the Television video. Zorba 19:32, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

OK, then I must be illogical, because I have to agree with Doldrums here. And you say it yourself, "Isn't this subjective?" Yes, it is, and that's the problem. Maybe it's me, but when I think of "atrocity," I think of Saddam Hussein, Slobodan Milosevic, and Adolf Hitler... My point is, the word "atrocity" evokes emotions, implies something extraordinarily bad, and it means different things to different people. What is an atrocity to one may just be a crime to another. I might use "atrocity" in my blog were I to write about this event, but here, where the language needs to be as emotionally neutral as possible, I'd use "crime" or "lynch mob." On Saddam Hussein, Slobodan Milosevic and Adolf Hitler's various disgusting atrocities we should add the atrocities of the NATO and US army in Yugoslavia and Iraq. Ok then, "crime" if you prefer. No problem at all:) Zorba 15:47, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
