What magnitude to report? edit

From the sources I've read, it looks like the initial magnitude reported by the USGS was 8.0 or 8.1, but that figure was later corrected to 7.8. The current magnitude listed on the USGS site (http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recenteqsww/Quakes/quakes_big.php, Update time = Wed May 3 21:40:50 UTC 2006) is richter 7.9. That page also shows three follow up richter 5+ earthquakes, not two. The magnitude reported in the article has pinballed around a bit; should we continue to keep it up to the minute, or since the breaking tag has been removed from this article, can we just leave it be until the reports settle down? That's a hard one. A little bit of both. Mabie just leave it be until the reports settle down or keep it up to the minute. I would keep it up to the minute because the article's always change. Just a suggestion. Feel free to do whatever is better. Thanks. FellowWikiNews 00:05, 4 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
